Jim Harrington earned a Degree in Horticulture from the University of Arizona in 1986. After graduation he worked for various landscape companies in Arizona and Georgia until 1989 when he was hired by The University of Georgia as a Cooperative Extension Agent in North Fulton County. In 1991 Jim decided to start his own landscape business.
As a firm believer in continuing education Jim has been active in the Georgia Perennial Plant Association, and the Native Plant Association, and served both organizations as President.
Jim also enjoys writing and has been a contributing author to Gardening Round Atlanta, Nativescapes, and Perennial Notes.
As well as being owner of one of Atlanta Area's top landscaping companies, Jim also developed The Original Rainwater Pillow in response to the drought in Georgia. Jim recognized the havoc that a lack of available water could wreak on his customers' gardens. "After watching politicians respond to the drought by pointing fingers at each other and recommending initiatives like, "Take Shorter Showers Month," we realized that it might take years for the government to provide enough water to keep our gardens alive. So, we decided to address this problem ourselves."
The result is The Original Rainwater Pillow, an innovative way to take advantage of Georgia's short, heavy downpours and provide ample water for flowers, gardens and other outdoor watering needs.
Jim lives in Alpharetta with his wife Cecie and his two children Nick and Juliana. When he is not raising plants he is raising children!
